Vita
– Wolfgang E. Biedermann was born in Hanover in 1940 and has lived in Leipzig since December 2008. Studied at the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig up from 1961. Since 1968, he worked as a freelance artist in Leipzig. From 1968 to 1991, he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and up from 1996, a member of the Free Academy of Arts in Leipzig. His unique encounter with the German performance artist Joseph Beuys had a significant impact on Biedermann.
He intensively engaged in overdrawing and overpainting his works. Recurring motifs include symbols, signs, ciphers, and scripts based on Asian calligraphy.
